I am a tenured professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Mohaghegh Ardabili (UMA), Ardabil, Iran. I received my PhD from Iran University of Science and Technology (IUST) in 2008, and was a visiting researcher at The University of Tokyo, Japan and the University of Canterbury, New Zealand (2007-2008). I joined UMA in 2008 as a faculty member in the Department of Civil Engineering, and served as the head of the Civil Engineering Department (2014 - 2015 and 2017- 2019) and Member of the Faculty Promotion Committee of the UMA (2016 - 2018). I was also a visiting scholar at the Lehigh University, PA, USA (2015 - 2016) The main focus of my research is on the nonlinear behavior of structures subjected to earthquakes, seismic damage and loss assessment, structural control, and the performance-based design of structures. I have supervised over 40 MSc and PhD thesis, and have authored more than 40 research papers in peer-reviewed international and national journals and over 60 research papers in international and national conference proceedings. I have been serving as a reviewer for more than10 high-impact international journals. I have more than 24 years of professional engineering experience in the structural engineering industry as a Design Project Manager, Head of Technical Office, and Senior Structural Designer and Supervisor. In these professional roles, I have worked with various consulting engineering companies on the structural design of several high-rise buildings and seismic assessment and retrofitting of bridges and buildings. I have served as a member of the Board of Directors, Vice President of Ardabil-province Construction Engineering Organization (ACEO), Ardabil, Iran, and a member and Chairman of the Education Committee of ACEO.
