I, Behrouz
Sobhani, was born in the village of Imiche located in the Central District of
Ardabil County, Ardabil Province in the year 1958 (1337 in the Iranian
calendar).I completed my primary education up to the fifth grade at Shahriar
Primary School in Imiche, and my guidance school education at Shams Hakimi
School in Ardabil for three years, from 1972 to 1974 (1351–1353). I then
attended Safavi High School in Ardabil from 1974 to 1978 (1353–1357) for my
secondary education.In October 1978 (Mehr 1357), I was admitted to the
University of Tabriz to study Physical Geography and graduated in July 1985
(Tir 1364).The entire duration of my undergraduate studies was approximately
seven years, due to the coincidence with the Islamic Revolution and later the
Cultural Revolution; however, the actual study period amounted to three and a
half years.After graduation, in March 1986 (Esfand 1364), I entered military
service and served for 28 months in the operational area of the 28th Infantry
Division of Kurdistan.
After completing my service, I worked for two years under contract in various departments and organizations.In 1990 (1369), I was employed as an educational expert under a contract at the University of Tabriz, with my place of service being the Higher Educational Complex of Ardabil.In 1993 (1372), I was admitted to the Master’s program in Remote Sensing and GIS at Tarbiat Modares University and graduated on June 3, 1997 (13 Khordad 1376). From 1998 (1377) I became a faculty member at the university. I also served for about four years as the Director of Educational Affairs at Mohaghegh Ardabili University.In February 2001 (Bahman 1379), I began my PhD in Climatology at the University of Tabriz, graduating on March 4, 2006 (13 Esfand 1384).From 2006 to 2008 (1385–1387), I served as Vice President for Education and Academic Affairs at the university, and again from 2010 to 2014 (1389–1393) in the same position.In 2014 (1393), I was promoted from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor, and four years later, in 2018 (1397), I was promoted to the rank of Full Professor.
Primary Education: Five years of primary school in the village of Imiche at Shahriar Primary School, from 1969 to July 1974 (1348–Tir 1353).
Guidance School (Middle School): Three years of lower secondary education at Shams Hakimi Guidance School in Ardabil, from 1974 to July 1976 (1353–Tir 1355).

Bachelor’s Degree: Studied Physical Geography at the University of Tabriz from October 1978 to July 1985 (Mehr 1357–Tir 1364) for a total duration of seven years, about three of which coincided with the Islamic Revolution, Cultural Revolution, and university closures.
Master’s Degree: Completed a Master’s program in Remote Sensing at Tarbiat Modares University in Tehran from 1994 to 1997 (1373–1376).
PhD: Earned a PhD in Physical Geography (Climatology) at the University of Tabriz from February 2001 to March 2006 (Bahman 1379–Esfand 1384).
